COACHd – your weekly coaching update | April 22, 2022

Friday, April 22, 2022

Hi Simon,

Welcome to this weeks Get COACHd on Friday.

A 4 day work week – really! I love conventional thinking – something that really does constrain us as we strive to develop new concepts and applications.

A big shout out this week. I have just come off an online meetup run by a positively lovely chap – Joe Glover. Joe and his team have built up a 30,000 strong LinkedIn community of those interested in marketing. Every week he has great speakers delivering great content – some marketing, some coaching, some brand, some presence, and some edgy. It is worth looking at – even if you are not interested in Marketing.

In todays session, Jodie from Business Allotment gave a talk about creativity. One of the exercises that she suggested at the start of the session was to go on a creative challenge. Something that simple and therefore appealed to me. I thought I would share.

At the start of each day, pick up any object (and I mean any), set a timer for 60 seconds and capture what that object could be used for. Repeat every day for the next 29 days and see how this improves your creativity.

Such an easy way to explore ideas and having fun.

For the process ones of you that could be asking, what is the purpose of this? The purpose could be one of many.

  • having fun
  • improving personal creativity process
  • increasing confidence in creativity
  • improving the brain based on the concept that repeating a new task will strengthen the ability of the brain to go creative.

I am intrigued to see where you get to on this – so please share with me what type of objects you come up with.

Some of you that know me quite well are aware that I am working with a good friend, Kevin Watson, to build a marketing business. We are focusing on the coach, trainer, and therapist professions – because we understand this. If you are interested in having a chat / more information – please check out Acema Marketing – and download our first short ebook below.

Now to todays’ collection of news and writings from all world coaching!
