COACHd – your weekly coaching update | August 19, 2022
Welcome to this weeks Get COACHd on Friday.
There was rain eventually over Solihull during the week. The drought has certainly caused the garden a few issues as the heat took over. The weather is something that we cannot easily control. It is a part of a bigger and more complex agenda. We have had to simply get on with our activities. I found myself getting up early as the temperatures soared, and occasionally adopted a Mediterranean style afternoon.
Adapting to situations around us that we cannot control seems to be a big agenda item at the moment. Spiralling costs and rising inflationary factors are denting confidence in the business space – but what we can choose – is how we react to them.
My coaching business is called Wheresmylunch. I am often asked why Wheresmylunch (as well as other predictable quips). The name was inspired by the book ‘Who Moved My Cheese‘ by Spencer Johnson. In the story, there are humans and mice. They are ‘fed’ regularly but the amount of food was decreasing. The humans stood around moaning about the state if the maze that they lived in whereas the mice donned their running shoes and went in search of more ‘food’.
The metaphor is powerful for where we are at the moment and results in me asking the question – how can we help our clients (and ourselves) to don their running shoes and go in search of more ‘food’.
Earlier this week, I met up with Simon Caulton from Ones. His and his families inspiring story are linked to his personal and business why story. His business designs, manufactures, sells and distributes trainers – with some of the profits going to good cause charities related to his why. If you are looking for a very comfortable pair of trainers – check out his small range here.
The next COCOACHING will be running in person in the centre of Birmingham on Monday 26th September at 11:30. We will do some walking coaching – and I will provide a framework / brief for this. This will run until 13:30. Specific details will be sent to those that register, and due to logistics – this cocoaching will be limited to 12 people. Book on here.
There will be an opening for a new coaching supervision offering for supervision starting in October – so watch out for this information soon.
That is it for another week. I hope that you enjoy these weekly reads.

When you think of strategic planning, you probably picture a room full of executives in a large corporate meeting room. While that may be valid, we can invite that same kind of strategy into our own lives. Those corporate suits are simply devising a plan to accomplish their goals. Doesn’t that sound like something that […]
