Hi The coach zone,

Welcome to this weeks Get COACHd on Friday.

As a coach, how many times do we talk about ‘dancing the dance’ with our client?

  • Perhaps this is just a term that I use?
  • Perhaps I have thought of a new competition show for the tele – Strictly Coaching?
  • Perhaps not.

If we think about coaching as a dance – there are many overlaps.

We are coaching in trust and intimacy. Exploring new areas of discovery as we weave ideally seamlessly and deliberately through our coaching sessions. We volunteer lifts, offer support and encouragement as well as treading on each others toes as we establish our moves. Occasionally we introduce props into the sessions, perhaps picture cards, playdough (my favourite) or some other 3rd person release.

I cannot imagine Craig Revelhorn appreciating my real life dancing skills, but I am sure that for certain coaching dances, I would get close. One thing for sure though Strictly Coaching on Ice maybe a slip too far.

Have a good read.
